The fishing village of Ngawi is the largest settlement on Wairarapa’s south coast¸ nestled in a small bay. It is well-known nationally for the wonderful range of bulldozers of many colours that are lined up along the road’s edge, waiting to push the commercial fishing vessels out into the waters of Cook Strait. Many of the settlement’s houses are traditionally-sized baches, often with decks added to watch the many spectacular sunsets.
